Fibre East fair

Hoy he tenido la oportunidad de colaborar con la asociación P/hop que recauda fondos para Médicos sin Fronteras en la feria Fibre East. La iniciativa busca gracias a los patrones de crochet y tejido que las diseñadoras han donado que otras personas pueden escoger su patrón y donar dinero que se valora según el placer que puede dar el tejer el patrón. Hoy, a pesar del mal tiempo, muchas adictas a la lana que se acercaron a esta feria de fibras naturales, tejido, bordado y otros crafts y han colaborado generosamente con este muy divertido e interesante proyecto. 

 

Algunas cosas curiosas y fuera de lo habitual en la feria y que me llamaron la atención fueron: los divertidos y curiosos botones de Beaker Button, el delicado trabajo y productos de Romney Marsh Wools, los inquietantes paisajes de Little Gem Felts y los preciosos y delicados productos de Beyond Measure.

Today I had the opportunity to collaborate with P/hop that raises funds for Doctors Without Borders in the Fibre East fair. The initiative aims thanks to crochet and knitting patterns that designers have donated so other people can choose their own and donate money on the hours of pleasure that pattern can give them after working on that pattern.  Today, despite the bad weather, many addicted to yarn and wool came to this show full of natural fibers, weaving, embroidery and other crafts and have contributed generously to this very fun and interesting project.

Some curious and out of the ordinary projects, business and inciatives at the show and I founded funny and curious were the buttons made by Beaker Button, the delicate work and products of Romney Marsh Wools, the haunting landscapes of Little Gem Felts and precious and delicate Beyond Measure products.

Made in Clerkenwell - Craft week

Como viene siendo habitual Craft Central abré las puertas de diseñadores de moda, joyeria, impresión, tejidos y objetos. Este fin de semana se podrá disfrutar del trabajo de estos artistas, descubrir nuevas formas de aplicar técnicas y caer en la tentación de comprar alguna que otra cosa. Me he enamorado de los trabajos de Rosalie McMillan y Suzie Lee. Rosalie, hace piezas de joyería mezcladas con café, si si con café! un trabajo muy elaborado y con un concepto ecológico por detrás muy interesante, donde se reciclan los granos de diferentes coffee shops de Londres. Suzie, realiza accesorios, bufandas y objetos para el hogar tejidos con patrones y colores muy interesantes. Si tenias la oportunidad de pasar no se pierdan el trabajo de Marby and Elm, Brandts, Cosmina, Peace of glass, Beatrice Mayfield, Victoria King, Ali Holloway, Myai Bonner, La Parra, Jessica de Lotz, Kuku Big Bag entre muchos otros. Del 8 al 10 de Mayo en Made in Clerkenwell (Clerkenwell Green and St. John´s square). //

As usual Craft Central opens the doors of the studios of fashion, jewelry, letterpress, textiles and objects designers. This weekend you can enjoy the work of these artists, discover new ways to apply techniques and be tempted to buy some other things. I went yesterday and fall in love of  Rosalie McMillan and Suzie Lee work. Rosalie makes jewelry mixed with pieces of coffee, really I just wrote coffee! her work is very elaborated and with an ecological concept behind really interesting, where the grains of different coffee shops in London are recycled. Suzie develop accessories, scarves and items for the home by knitting interesting patterns and mixing lovely colours. If you have the opportunity to spend sometine please look also the work of Marby and Elm, Brandts, Cosmina, Peace of glass, Beatrice Mayfield, Victoria King, Ali Holloway, Myai Bonner, La Parra, Jessica Lotz, Kuku Big Bag among many others. Socks // Calcetines

No sé por donde empezar, la verdad que este proyecto me ha costado terminarlo y muchas de las personas que tejen saben a lo que me refiero. Empecé estos calcetines, hace un año y entre la búsqueda de trabajo, el trabajo y que era la primera vez que trabajaba con 4 agujas pues he experimentado muchas cosas y es por eso que casi no consigo terminarlas.

Pero es la primera vez que en este largo proceso no solo ha sido conseguir terminar lo que he tejido sino también darme cuenta que de cosas a nivel personal que se han visto ligadas con el proceso de tejer. Empezar algo nuevo y diferente, algo que es desconocido, un reto. Darte cuenta a mitad del camino que te has equivocado, así que hay que volver a empezar y finalmente conseguir no solo terminar un par de calcetín sino los DOS.

Como no suelo ser de escribir mucho, aquí os dejo algunas imágenes de mis queridos y preciados calcetines. Que por cierto, estoy a la búsqueda de patrones sencillos para hacer más. Así que si alguien sabe que me cuente!

I don´t know where to start, the truth is that this project has cost me to finish it and many of the people who knit know what I mean. I started these socks, a year ago and between job search, work, and it was the first time I worked with 4 needles, this became a long process.

But it is the first time, in this long process has not only been able to finish what I've tissue but also realize that things personally that have been linked to the process of knitting. Start something new and different, something that is unknown, a challenge. Realize halfway that you're wrong, so you have to start again and finally get not only finished a pair of socks but the pair.

As I usually not write much, here are some pictures of my dear and precious socks. Which by the way, I am in search of simple patterns to do more. So if anyone knows tell me!

Master Applied Imagination - UAL

La semana pasada tuve el placer de ir a la inauguración del Master Applied Imagination de la University of the Arts London. En esta exhibición se pudo apreciar el trabajo de los estudiantes del master y el desarrollo de sus proyectos, me gustaría destacar trés de ellos. //
Last week I had the pleasure of being invite to the inauguration of Master of Applied Imagination University of the Arts London. In the exhibition we could appreciate the work of the students and their developing projects, I would like to highlight three of them.

El proyecto de @Yarnpool (Adele Orcajada Digiacomo) donde se hace enfasis del uso de la lana y su conexión con las personas y su atracción. Tengo que dar gracias a Adele por haberme dejado participar en su proyecto y ser parte de esa gran idea que es que la lana es el vínculo entre nosotros y el mundo. Aquí algunas fotos del proyecto. //
The @Yarnpool project (Adele Orcajada Digiacomo) where emphasis on the use of wool and its connection with people. I have to thank Adele for letting me participate in her project and be part of that great idea is that wool is the link between us and the world. Here are some pictures of the project.

Tambien me llamó la antención el proyecto @scuzazuzan0tn0w (Georgiana Mihai) donde la palabra ¨juego¨ es la idea principal y como nos vemos interconectados con lo que llamamos juego. //
Also caught my attention being the @scuzazuzan0tn0w  project (Georgiana Mihai) where the word ¨game¨ is the main idea and as we are interconnected with what we call game.

Y por último Winnie Hua nos explica la idea de construir más jardines e implementar la idea en grandes ciudades como Nanjing en China donde el metro cuadrado de suelo es extremadamente costoso y tener un jardin es un lujo. //
And finally Winnie Hua explains the idea of building more gardens and implement the idea in big cities like Nanjing in China where the square meter of land is extremely expensive and have a garden is a luxury.

The Great London Yarn Crawl 2014

Gracias a una amiga he podido disfrutar de el Great London Yarn Crawl. Un evento que reune a muchas amantes de la lana y que durante un día recorren varias tiendas en Londres, toman café, compiten, reciben premios, ayudan a una ONG, se rien y lo más importante no paran de hablar de lana y de tejer! Así que este año he sido parte de esta pequeña aventura y las tiendas que visité fueron las siguientes:

Thanks to a friend I have been enjoying the Great London Yarn Crawl yesterday . An event that brings together many  wool lovers for a day walking several stores in London, drinking coffee, competing, receiving awards, helping an NGO, laughing and most importantly not stop talking about wool and knitting! So this year I have been part of this little adventure and the stores that I visited were:

Stich Up - SW19 8AA - Wimbledon Park Station
Preciosa tienda donde nos recibieron con un buen café y galletas para empezar con fuerza el día. / Lovely shop where we were greeted with good coffee and biscuits to start the  hard day.

Sharp Works - SE240JT - Herne Hill Station
Tienda justo al salir de la estación con preciosas lanas y botones!! preciosos botones! / Shop just off the station with beautiful wool and buttons !! beautiful buttons!

Loop - N1 8EA - Angel Station
La super conocida tienda de lanas donde te dejas el sueldo del mes pero merece la pena! además esta ubicada en un pasaje donde hay cantidad de tiendas vintage y anticuarios. / Super known yarn store where you leave your paycheck but worth it! well located in a area full of vintage and antique shops.

Wild & Woolly - E5 0QR - Hackney Central Station
Para rematar, hemos estado en esta tienda donde tambien nos han recibido con café y galletas! Precioso escaparate y lanas de todas partes … alpaca, merino, etc. / To top it off, we have been in this store where they have also welcomed us with coffee and cookies! Beautiful window display and wool from everywhere ... alpaca, merino, etc.

Para terminar la jornada nos hemos reunido en The Parcel Yard en King Cross para compartir la experiencia con otros grupos de amantes de la lana y tejedoras. Donde hemos recibido premios y hemos conseguido recaudar dinero para Refuge. Gracias a mi equipo Romney y a nuestras guías Andrea y Kelly por un maravilloso dia. Nos vemos el próximo año! /

To end the day, we met in The Parcel Yard in King Cross to share the experience with other groups of wool lovers and knitters. Where we have received awards and we managed to raise money for Refuge. Thanks to my team - Romney- and our guides and Andrea and Kelly for a wonderful day. See you next year!

Proyecto Eco - crochet

Tuve la fortuna de poder realizar este proyecto de verduras y frutas en amigurumi con las chicas de Lana Connection para Mama Campo - una nueva tienda ecológica en Madrid. //

I was lucky to be able to participate in this project of vegetables and fruits amigurumis with the Lana  Connection girls for Mama Campo - a new store of healthy and organic food in Madrid.

Renegade Craft Fair

Una vez al año llega a Londres el Renegade Craft Fair, situado en pleno Bric Lane en medio de las tiendas más de moda, con el mercado de flores a medio camino en Columbia Road . Es una visita obligada para los amantes del craft, aunque es verdad que ya empieza a ser repetitivo algunas de los diseños que se ven estos mercadillos. Hay que destacar que hay piezas y diseñadores con trabajos increíbles, acabados impecables e ideas muy originales. Algunos de los puestos que más me llamaron la atención fueron: Morse Cooded, Pink Tank, Moko, A Alicia, Made by me me me y Hipp. El próximo año volveremos! //

Once a year comes to London the Renegade Craft Fair, located in the Bric Lane amid the fashionable shops, the flower market in Columbia Road halfway. It is a must for lovers of craft, although it is true that begins to be repetitive some of the designs you can see on these markets. It should be noted that some designs and designers had an amazing work, impeccable finish and original ideas. Some of the designers that most caught my attention were: Morse cooded, Pink Tank, Moko, A Alicia, Made by me me me and Hipp. Next year we will come again!

Die Mercerie

Die Mercerie, una de las mejores tiendas de lanas que visto en Munich. Lanas de todas partes del mundo, con una calidad increíble. Un rincón para tomar un café, libros y pequeños detalles. Muy recomendable para nosotras las amantes de la lana. Y como no me pude resistir... me compré un ganchillo XXXL.

Master Class Wool part5

Últimos días llenos de conceptos, ideas, planteamientos y mirando el trabajo de todos los que hemos participado en esta Master Class. Hemos trabajado mano a mano con Labopull (Alice Egler & Sonja de Monchy). Experiencia que me deja con muchas ideas en la cabeza y que espero poder más adelante poder desarrollar. Espero también poder seguir en contacto con muchas de las personas que conocimos y ha sido muy bonito conocer Rambouillet y la Bergerie Nationale. //

Last days full of concepts, ideas, approaches and looking at the work of all who have participated in this Master Class. We have worked closely with Labopull (Alice Egler & Sonja de Monchy). Experience that leaves me with many ideas in my head and I hope to be able to develop further. I also hope to keep in touch with many of the people I hae met and also was very nice to know Rambouillet and the Bergerie Nationale.
